Rev. Leslianne Braunstein, Sabbatical Pastor

A New York City native, Leslianne is the daughter of Leslie Ralph (deceased) and Charlotte Anne Adkins (hence her name, Leslianne). She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology, with a minor in Psychology, from Queens College. For fifteen years, Leslianne was a law office administrator for firms in New York and California, where she first understood she was called to ministry.

After graduating from Wesley Theological Seminary in Washington, DC, Leslianne completed four units of Clinical Pastoral Education at Goodwin House, a continuing care retirement community in Alexandria and Falls Church, VA. As part of the pastoral care team, she provided care to the more than 700 residents and staff including providing care in the hospice program. She continued as Hospice Chaplain (part time) through 2006. After completing four years as an Associate Pastor for Congregational Care (2005-2009), Leslianne embarked on her career as an interim minister specialist. She has served six congregations as Stated Supply, Gap or Interim pastor.

Leslianne is the convener of National Capital Presbytery’s Response Coordinating Team – the entity that provides the Healthy Boundary Training mandated for all pastors in National Capital Presbytery. The team also works with churches who have experienced incidences of sexual misconduct.

Leslianne is married to Richard Braunstein, a retired attorney. There are 3 children and 6 grandchildren.  Leslianne is a proud member of the Chicahominy Indian Tribe (Eastern Division) in Providence Forge, VA. The tribe is one of the seven Virginia tribes to recently receive Federal recognition.


Rev. Geoffrey J. McLean, Pastor

The Reverend Geoffrey J. McLean was born and raised in Wayne, New Jersey. In his youth, Geoff was active in the Boy Scouts, the Police Athletic League, and was a member and Elder of Wayne Presbyterian Church. Pastor Geoff, as he prefers to be called, is a PC (USA) Presbyterian Minister of Word and Sacrament. He received a Bachelor of Arts from Bloomfield College in New Jersey and a Master of Divinity from Louisville Presbyterian Theological Seminary.


Upon receiving a call to serve as the Pastor of First Presbyterian Church of Columbia City, Indiana in 1999, Geoff was ordained by the Presbytery of the Palisades (NJ). During his ministry in Columbia City, Geoff was active in the camp and conference ministry of Geneva Center. He also had a dynamic ministry with the community through his work as a volunteer firefighter and Chaplain.

In 2004, Pastor Geoff was called to serve as the Pastor of First Presbyterian Church of Canton, Mississippi. While in Canton, Geoff was a founding member of the Canton Coalition, a group of Christians seeking to work across racial lines in the poverty stricken area called the Sawmill Quarters of Canton, Mississippi.

Pastor Geoff began his service as Pastor of Christ Presbyterian Church in March 2007. Under his leadership, Christ Presbyterian has continued to build on it strengths as well as discover new gifts. Pastor Geoff brings a dynamic spirit to his leadership. He is committed to the application of the Gospel of Christ to the daily life of people in the world.

Rev. McLean is blessed with a wife, Sheila, a 26-year-old stepson, Johnny, and a 14-year-old son, Colin.  


Diane Volcansek, Preschool Director

Diane Volcansek serves as our preschool director.  She is a visionary leader who is helping to expand our Preschool Ministry to meet the needs of our community.  With Diane’s leadership we have created a Preschool Ministry that allows families to select from various scheduling options.

 


Linda Maguire, Music Director

Linda Maguire is a professional musician, neuroscientist and gerontologist. She studied piano and voice at the Oberlin Conservatory of Music and opera at the University of Toronto and Canadian Opera Company. Linda had a substantial opera career, then went back to school to study “music as medicine” and healthy aging processes at Johns Hopkins University and George Mason.

She has been a church music director for over a decade and enjoys preparing and performing together with other singers and musicians in a committed church family. Originally from Virginia, she is very happy to join the family and musical Ministry  at Christ Presbyterian Church.


Christine Forrest, Administrative Assistant

Christine Forrest joined out staff in the fall of 2016 as our Administrative Assistant. I am a North Virginian native. A wife of 20 years and a mother of three. I attend and actively volunteer at my church in Woodbridge. I really enjoy entertaining, spending time with my family, cooking and having fun. I am a well organized person from my previous experience working as a church admin. I am honored to work with Pastor Geoff and the congregation. She is in the office Monday thru Thursday 9:30 AM – 1:30 PM.  

 


LuAnn Bynum, Church Finance Administrator/Treasurer

LuAnn has many years of Financial/Bookkeeping experience and enjoys providing financial services for multiple churches. She grew up in Alexandria, Virginia and earned a Bachelor of Business Administration from James Madison University. She is married and has two young adult children. LuAnn grew up in a large family and enjoys spending time with her family and friends. She has spent much time over the years volunteering in her kid’s schools and within the community.
