Barbara has always had a passion for church music and directed her first adult choir at age 16.  Majoring in organ at Hendrix College, she served in various churches throughout college and afterwards, until “retiring” in 1983 to marry Rob and subsequently raise 3 adopted special needs children.  In 1998, Barbara happily returned to church music ministry, co-founded an area multicultural choir (Fauré Requiem, All Vivaldi, Handel Messiah, Mozart Requiem), established the Millennium Concert Series and the Columbia Pike Community Chorus.  Recently, she started the Northern Virginia vocal group, NoVA Lights Chorale, and serves as its Artistic Director. Through the years, she has also worked with Arlington County Public Schools as accompanist for choir, string orchestra, jazz strings, and musical stage productions.  Barbara enjoys reading, bridge, straight-up jazz, and her grandchildren.
